Overview
Chronicles of Wordcraft is built first and foremost around puzzles, stories, and artwork—not advertising. That said, running a small imprint does involve tools, services, and partners. This Disclosures page explains when we may receive compensation for recommending a product or service, how we label those relationships, and what you can expect from us whenever money is involved.
In plain terms: if we might earn a commission, get a benefit, or otherwise have a financial relationship tied to a recommendation, we want you to know that clearly before you act on it. We try to follow the spirit of advertising and endorsement rules in the places where our readers live, even though those rules differ by country.
This statement works together with our dedicated Affiliate & Partnerships page, which is more conversational and explains why we chose specific tools. If there is any conflict between the two, this Disclosures page controls for legal interpretation.
1. What this Disclosures page covers
This page applies whenever a recommendation, link, or mention from Chronicles of Wordcraft might be influenced by a financial relationship, including:
- Affiliate links that could generate a commission if you make a purchase.
- Discount codes, referral programmes, or store credit tied to your activity.
- Sponsored content, paid placements, or formal partnerships.
- Free review copies, beta access, or other in-kind benefits we receive.
It does not cover ordinary editorial decisions about which myths, stories, or techniques we talk about in our books, nor does it turn every casual mention of a tool into a recommendation. We may refer to third-party products simply as part of describing our publishing workflow.
2. Affiliate links and referral programmes
From time to time, we may participate in affiliate or referral programmes offered by companies whose tools we use in our own creative work—for example, software for designing interiors, platforms we use to host emails or files, or services that help manage our business. When we do:
- We only link to a product or service if we believe it is genuinely relevant to readers or other creators, based on our own experience.
- If a link is an affiliate or referral link, we will label it clearly near the link itself (for example, “Affiliate link” or similar wording) or in a nearby disclosure statement.
- Using an affiliate link or code does not change your price, unless the programme offers you a discount. In some cases, you may receive a better price than buying without the link or code.
- We do not guarantee that an offer is the best available or that the product will be right for your situation. You should always review the third party’s terms, pricing, and privacy practices for yourself.
Additional context and a more narrative overview of our current partners can be found on the Affiliate & Partnerships page.
3. Sponsored content, review copies, and gifts
At present, most Chronicles of Wordcraft content is produced without direct sponsorship. If that changes—now or in the future—we will treat sponsorships with the same transparency expectations as affiliate links.
Where a company pays us to feature its product, provides a product specifically for review, or otherwise exercises editorial influence over content, we will:
- Label the relationship in a clear, prominent way (for example, “This section is sponsored by…” or “We received a review copy from…”).
- Keep our opinions honest, even when compensation is involved. We do not sell pre-approved praise.
- Make it clear when statements are our own views and experiences, not promises or guarantees from the sponsor.
If we later conclude that a sponsorship or gift has created an impression of bias that we are not comfortable with, we may revise or remove the content.
4. Unpaid recommendations and casual mentions
Sometimes we talk about tools, platforms, or books that we simply like, with no affiliate link or sponsorship attached. For example, we might mention a reference text, a design approach, or a printing trick that we found helpful.
In those cases:
- We are not being paid to mention the product.
- We do not receive a commission if you act on the recommendation.
- The mention is still not a guarantee. A tool that fits our tiny puzzle imprint may not be appropriate for your own project, budget, or risk tolerance.
We may still link to the product’s website or documentation purely for convenience. Those links are not meant to be mistaken for affiliate links when no affiliate relationship exists.
5. Where you will see disclosures
To be useful, a disclosure has to be visible at the moment you are making a decision—such as clicking a link, using a discount code, or acting on a recommendation. For that reason, we aim to place disclosures:
- Near the relevant link or call-to-action on a web page, usually in the same paragraph or directly above or below it.
- In email messages, social posts, or videos that contain affiliate links or sponsored segments, using clear labels such as “affiliate link,” “sponsored,” or “ad.”
- In the front or back matter of any print or digital product that includes a substantial sponsored section or partnership.
This Disclosures page acts as the master reference, while the Affiliate & Partnerships page provides an up-to-date, reader-friendly overview of active relationships.
6. Relationships with vendors and platforms
Chronicles of Wordcraft relies on a number of third parties to operate—such as website hosts, email providers, analytics tools, and print-on-demand services. Some of these vendors are purely transactional: we pay them for services and receive no special benefit for mentioning them. Others may have affiliate, partner, or referral programmes that we participate in.
Regardless of the business arrangement:
- The third party remains responsible for its own products, terms, privacy practices, and customer support.
- We cannot control or guarantee their pricing, availability, or service levels.
- Any dispute you have with a third party must be resolved with that third party, not with Chronicles of Wordcraft.
We may adjust which vendors we use over time, including ending relationships that no longer align with how we want to treat readers.
7. No financial, legal, or professional advice
Even when we talk about tools, costs, or business decisions, our content is not financial, legal, tax, or professional advice. It reflects one small imprint’s experience and priorities, not a universal best practice.
Before you spend money, sign a contract, or launch your own publishing project based on something you read from Chronicles of Wordcraft, you should:
- Review the third party’s current terms, privacy policy, and pricing.
- Consider your own situation, risk tolerance, and goals.
- Seek independent professional advice where appropriate (for example, from your own lawyer, accountant, or business advisor).
Your use of our site and materials is governed by our main Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, which should be read together with this Disclosures page.
8. Questions, concerns, and corrections
If you ever have questions about whether a particular link, recommendation, or mention on our site is connected to a financial relationship, we encourage you to ask. Transparency is the goal, and it is better to over-explain than to leave you guessing.
You can contact us at [email protected]. Please include “Disclosures” in the subject line and, if possible, a link or screenshot of the content you are asking about.
If we discover that a disclosure was missing, vague, or placed poorly, we will update the relevant page or post and, where appropriate, add a note explaining the correction.
9. Changes to this Disclosures page
We may update this page periodically to reflect new regulations, policy guidance, or changes in how we work with affiliates and sponsors. Updates may also be needed as the Chronicles of Wordcraft imprint expands into new formats or platforms.
When we make significant changes, we will adjust the “Last reviewed” date in the footer and may highlight the update on our Release & Updates page or in reader communications.
Your continued use of our site and materials after any update means that you understand and accept the current version of this Disclosures page.
