Overview
Chronicles of Wordcraft is built on original stories, puzzles, and artwork created for the R. R. Thalore brand, supported by a small number of third-party tools, fonts, and services. This page explains, in one place, how we handle credits, copyright notices, and acknowledgements for those third-party materials.
We aim to keep this page accurate and readable. It is not an exhaustive list of every dependency or vendor we may work with, but it highlights the most visible third-party elements and summarizes how they are used. For more detailed information about sponsorships or paid relationships, please also see our Affiliate & Partnerships page.
Nothing on this page grants you permission to reuse any third-party material on your own projects. To reuse those materials, you must follow the applicable licenses or contact the relevant owner.
1. Core creative work and mythological sources
Unless we say otherwise, the following are original to R. R. Thalore and protected by copyright:
- The Chronicles of Wordcraft imprint, series names, and branded copy.
- The structure and content of our puzzle books and bonus packs, including word lists, grid layouts, clues, explanatory notes, and book-specific back matter.
- Custom illustrations, crests, medallions, and watermark artwork created specifically for Chronicles of Wordcraft.
- The overall design, layout, and non-generic text used on rrthalore.com and in our marketing materials.
Many of our projects draw on myths, legends, and historical topics that are part of the public domain (for example, the names of Greek gods, places, and stories). Those underlying cultural and historical references remain available to everyone; what is protected is our specific expression of them in the form of puzzle sequences, descriptions, artwork treatments, and curated word lists.
For information about how you may quote or reuse our puzzles or art in your own projects, please see our Permissions & Licensing page.
2. Fonts and typography
Our visual identity relies heavily on classic serif typography and display faces that evoke an archival or “museum” feel. These fonts are licensed from third parties and are used in accordance with their respective licenses. Examples include:
- EB Garamond – used for body text and many interface elements across rrthalore.com. Served via Google Fonts and licensed under the SIL Open Font License (OFL).
- Cinzel or similar display faces – used in certain headers, titles, and promotional graphics to reinforce the carved-stone aesthetic. Also provided via Google Fonts or equivalent services under open font licenses.
All font designs remain the property of their respective designers and foundries. We do not own or resell these fonts; we simply use them within the scope of the applicable licenses.
3. Icons, logos, and decorative graphics
The Chronicles of Wordcraft crest and related series marks are original designs used exclusively for this imprint. They may not be reused without our prior written permission.
Some small interface elements make use of, or are inspired by, third-party icon libraries and standards:
- Social media icons (for platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, and Threads) are based on those services’ recognizable logos or on open-source icon sets. The underlying logos are trademarks of their respective companies.
- Simple interface symbols (for example, arrows, menu indicators, and link glyphs) may derive from open-source vector icon sets released under permissive licenses.
We adapt these icons to match our visual style (for example, by redrawing strokes or adjusting proportions), but the original designs and trademarks remain owned by their creators.
4. Third-party tools, platforms, and services
Chronicles of Wordcraft relies on third-party infrastructure to host, deliver, and improve our content. These services may include, for example:
- Website and content hosting providers, including content delivery networks.
- Email and newsletter services used to deliver welcome sequences, bonus packs, and announcements to readers.
- Analytics and consent-management tools that help us understand how the site is used and respect visitors’ privacy choices.
Each of these services is subject to its own terms of use and privacy policy. When we mention a company or product by name, that name is usually a trademark of its respective owner. Any such references are for identification only and do not imply sponsorship or endorsement unless we explicitly state otherwise.
For details on how we collect and use data with the help of these services, please see our Privacy Policy and related legal pages.
5. Product mentions, recommendations, and affiliate links
From time to time, we may mention third-party products or platforms that we personally use in our publishing workflow — for example, puzzle-building tools, print-on-demand services, or email software. In some cases, links to those products may be affiliate links, meaning we could earn a small commission if you choose to purchase through them.
We only highlight products that we believe are relevant to readers or to other creators interested in how our books are made. However, all such products and services remain the responsibility of their own providers, and we cannot guarantee your experience with them.
Full details about our affiliate relationships, how they work, and how we label them are provided on our dedicated Affiliate & Partnerships page. If there is any conflict between this Attributions page and the Affiliate page, the Affiliate page will control for questions about compensation and disclosure.
6. Third-party content in books and downloads
Our print books and digital bonus packs are primarily composed of original content. In limited cases, we may incorporate or reference third-party materials, such as:
- Small quotations from primary texts, myths, or historical sources.
- Texture overlays, ornamental frames, or patterns sourced from licensed stock or open-content libraries.
- Public-domain assets that have been restored or remixed into new layouts and designs.
When third-party material appears inside a specific book or PDF, attribution may be provided in that volume’s copyright page or end matter. If a particular project relies on more extensive third-party contributions, we will call them out in that project’s front or back matter as well as, where appropriate, on this page.
7. Reader suggestions and user contributions
We sometimes invite readers to suggest future puzzle themes, book ideas, or improvements through our suggestion forms, surveys, or email replies. Unless we say otherwise at the point of collection, we treat those contributions as voluntary suggestions and not as commissioned work.
When we draw inspiration from reader suggestions, we may acknowledge the community generally (for example, “This volume was refined with help from early readers of Chronicles of Wordcraft”) without naming individual contributors. If we ever plan to use a reader’s content in a more direct or credited way, we will contact that person separately to discuss permissions.
Our Community Guidelines and Permissions & Licensing pages provide additional detail about how we handle user submissions and re-use of our materials.
8. Corrections and requests for additional credit
Despite our efforts, it is possible that a license, credit, or notice may be incomplete, outdated, or missing. If you believe that a third-party asset has been used on our site or in our books without appropriate attribution, please contact us so we can investigate.
You can reach us at [email protected]. When you write, please include:
- A description of the asset or work in question.
- Where you believe it appears (URL, page number, or screenshot).
- How you think it should be credited or what license applies.
If we confirm that an attribution needs to be added or corrected, we will update this page and/or the relevant book or file in a future release. In some cases, we may instead remove or replace the material.
This Attributions page is intended to provide transparency and courtesy acknowledgements; it does not limit or expand any rights granted by the original licenses for third-party materials or by our main Terms of Use, which remain the primary legal agreement for use of our site.
