Overview
Chronicles of Wordcraft is built for readers who love puzzles, mythology, and carefully crafted details. That includes readers with disabilities and those who use assistive technology. This Accessibility Statement explains how we think about inclusive access across our website, digital downloads, and print books, and what you can do if you need help using our materials.
We aim to follow widely recognized accessibility principles (in particular the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, or “WCAG”) wherever they make sense for a small, puzzle-focused imprint. Because many of our products involve highly visual layouts—such as word search grids and decorative artwork—we cannot promise perfect conformance in every situation, but inclusion is a core design goal and an ongoing process.
This statement is not legal advice. It is our good-faith explanation of what we do today and what we are working toward. If you have questions or suggestions, please contact us at [email protected].
1. Scope and guiding principles
This statement covers the parts of Chronicles of Wordcraft that we directly control, including:
- The main website at rrthalore.com and its sub-pages (including legal, help, and library pages).
- Reader-facing forms and landing pages we host for waitlists, newsletters, and bonus-pack delivery.
- Digital puzzle packs and other downloadable PDFs that we create and distribute directly to readers.
- The design of our print books, as far as is reasonably possible within print-on-demand constraints.
In all of these areas, we try to:
- Use clear, respectful language.
- Keep navigation predictable and consistent from page to page.
- Avoid relying on colour alone to convey important information.
- Choose fonts, contrast, and line spacing that support comfortable reading.
- Respond in good faith when readers tell us that something is difficult or impossible for them to use.
2. Website design and technical accessibility
Our website is designed with semantic HTML and structural landmarks (headings, lists, and navigation regions) so that assistive technologies can better interpret each page. Specific measures include:
- A “Skip to content” link at the top of each page, allowing keyboard and screen-reader users to bypass repeated navigation.
- Logical heading levels and consistent layout patterns across legal, help, and informational pages.
- Keyboard-reachable links and controls; interactive elements are built to be focusable, not just clickable.
- Colour combinations chosen to maintain readable contrast while preserving the parchment-and-ink aesthetic of the brand.
- Underlined text links with visible focus styles, so links are recognizable even for users who cannot rely on colour alone.
- Avoidance of automatic audio, flashing content, or time-limited interactions wherever possible.
We routinely test new templates against these principles before rolling them out to multiple pages. As a small team, we may not catch every issue immediately, but we treat accessibility concerns as bugs to be fixed—not as optional extras.
3. Forms, sign-ups, and interactive elements
Many Chronicles of Wordcraft experiences—such as joining a waitlist or requesting a bonus pack—use forms. Wherever we design or control those forms, we aim to:
- Provide labels that are programmatically associated with their input fields.
- Use clear instructions, examples, and inline error messages when something is missing or formatted incorrectly.
- Keep the number of required fields small, focusing only on information we genuinely need to fulfil the request.
- Ensure that buttons and controls can be activated using keyboard input, not just a mouse or touch screen.
Some forms may be hosted by third-party services (for example, our email provider). Those services have their own accessibility practices, which are outside our direct control. We select and configure partners with accessibility in mind and monitor reader feedback to decide whether a tool is still serving our community well.
4. Digital downloads and puzzle content
Our bonus packs and other downloadable materials are usually delivered as PDF files. Within the limits of puzzle layouts, we work to make these files usable by as many readers as possible:
- Using legible serif fonts and avoiding extremely small type for word lists, instructions, and solutions.
- Keeping puzzle grids and word lists in predictable locations on each page, with consistent margins and spacing.
- Designing watermarks and decorative motifs so they stay faint enough not to interfere with readability or printing.
- Avoiding colour-only distinctions so that puzzles remain usable when printed in grayscale.
Because word search grids, mazes, and other highly visual puzzles are difficult to interpret via screen reader, our PDF files are not yet fully tagged for all assistive technologies. If you need a specific accommodation—for example, access to puzzle word lists in a plain-text format, or guidance on printing at a larger scale—please contact us and we will do our best to help.
5. Print books and physical formats
Our print titles are produced through print-on-demand services that set certain constraints on paper, ink, and manufacturing. Within those constraints, we:
- Choose trim sizes and layouts that keep puzzles centred and away from the spine whenever possible.
- Use type sizes and line weights intended to be readable under normal lighting without excessive eye strain.
- Avoid using glossy or high-shine backgrounds inside puzzle interiors, so pencil or pen marks remain visible.
If you have difficulty using one of our print books because of a disability, please let us know. While we cannot reprint individual copies, we may be able to suggest alternative formats (for example, digital bonus material or larger-print equivalents) as we expand the Chronicles of Wordcraft library.
6. Third-party platforms and affiliate partners
Chronicles of Wordcraft content may also appear on, or be accessed through, third-party platforms—such as online retailers, email services, file-hosting providers, and tools we recommend to other creators. These platforms are responsible for their own accessibility practices and user interfaces.
When we make recommendations or use affiliate links, we do so in line with our Affiliate & Partnerships disclosures. Accessibility plays a role in which tools we are comfortable recommending, but we cannot guarantee the accessibility of any third-party product or service, even when linked from our site.
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on a third-party platform that is part of a Chronicles of Wordcraft experience—for example, difficulty downloading a bonus pack or completing a purchase—please tell us. While we cannot fix another company’s interface, we may be able to offer alternative routes or reconsider which partners we use in the future.
7. How to request help or report an accessibility issue
We welcome feedback from all readers, especially those who rely on assistive technology or have specific access needs. If you experience a barrier on our website, in a digital file, or in one of our books, please contact us and include as much detail as you comfortably can, such as:
- The page, book, or file you were using (URL, title, or ISBN).
- What you were trying to do when the problem occurred.
- Any assistive technologies involved (for example, screen reader name and version, browser, or operating system).
- Any workarounds that helped, even partially.
You can reach us at [email protected]. Please include “Accessibility” in the subject line so we can route your message appropriately. We are a small imprint, but we will review reasonable requests in good faith and respond as soon as we can.
8. Changes to this Accessibility Statement
As Chronicles of Wordcraft grows, we expect our accessibility practices to evolve as well. We may update this page to reflect new features, tools, or standards, or to clarify how we handle specific situations.
When we make significant changes, we will adjust the “Last reviewed” date in the footer and, where appropriate, highlight the update on our Release & Updates page or in reader communications.
Your continued use of our site and materials after an update means that you understand and accept the current version of this Accessibility Statement.
